4. Biden doesn't remember the term 'fax machine'
On two occasions during the interview, Biden failed to recall the term “fax machine.” When Hur inquired as to whether Biden brought “classified material with [him] from the West Wing or the Naval Observatory to the lake house” in Wilmington, the president described the layout of the Delaware home.
As Biden detailed how “I have a library, and the library has a — two filing cabinets in it,” he recalled how “when I built that home,” he put in space for a copy machine before asking, “What do you call it when they send these?” A member of the Special Counsel’s team interrupted to tell him that the term he was looking for was “fax machine.”
Biden agreed that the term he was meant to use was “fax machine.” When discussing the Wilmington Lake House later in their conversation, the president stated that one room in the house contained a printer before asking again, “What do they call it, the machine that … ”
“Fax machine,” the same member of the Special Counsel’s team replied. “A fax machine,” Biden agreed.
