Billy Graham Honored With Street Name in Tennessee
World renowned evangelist Billy Graham has another piece of road named after him, this time in Tennessee.
Cleveland County in Tennessee dedicated the Billy Graham Avenue on Friday, which the county declared "Billy Graham Day." Graham, 93, was unable to attend the ceremony, but his daughter, Gigi, was on hand for the ribbon cutting, according to local station WDEF News 12.
Graham briefly lived in Cleveland, Tenn., but he is more popularly associated with North Carolina. He was born on a farm near Charlotte and raised his family in a log cabin in Montreat, N.C.
"It's (Billy Graham Avenue) near the dorm where he (Billy Graham) stayed. He was only here about 6 months or one semester before he went on to Florida to Bible school, but it was very influential in his life," explained Gigi Graham Tchividjian, WDEF News 12 reported. "This is where he really first began to feel the call to go into the ministry."
The American evangelist had attended Bob Jones College, which is now named Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. The newly dedicated Billy Graham Avenue is across the street from Medina Hall, where Graham had lived when he attended Bob Jones College, according to the Cleveland Daily Banner newspaper.
Besides Billy Graham Avenue in Tennessee, the evangelist also has another road named after him: Billy Graham Parkway in Charlotte, N.C.
