Bobby Brown Will Attend Whitney Houston Funeral

Whitney Houston's ex-husband Bobby Brown has been extended an invitation to her funeral scheduled to take place on Saturday, despite various reports to the contrary.

Sources have confirmed Tuesday that the Brown had been contacted about attending Houston's funeral, according to ABC News..

"We are not focused on reports, stories, or false reports for that matter," Brown's spokesperson has said, calling reports suggesting that Brown is not invited to the funeral "inaccurate."

Following the death of Houston, Brown rushed to be by daughter Bobbi Kristina's side in California. The 19-year-old has been hospitalized twice since the untimely passing of her widely popular mother.

Brown was on tour with his band New Edition playing a show in Mississippi when he heard the news reportedly calling out during the show in tears "I love you Whitney."

Brown and Houston had a notoriously volatile marriage riddled with public incidences and rumors of drug abuse, which eventually ended in 2007. The couple married in Houston's native New Jersey in 1992 in a ceremony with around 800 people.

In a 2009 interview with Oprah Winfrey, the singer talked candidly about her marriage to Brown telling the talk show host that he was her "drug."

"He was fun. Passionate. Loving. It was crazy. We were crazy love," the singer shared.

Houston's funeral will be held in her hometown of Newark, N.J. and will be officiated by Pastor Joe Carter. Carter has known the Houston's for decades and he officiated Houston's wedding to Brown in 1992.

To the dismay of many Houston fans, the funeral will be a private affair, taking place at the New Hope Baptist Church – the same church where Houston first shared her vocal talents with the world as an 11-year-old girl.

Gospel singer Marvin Winans will deliver the eulogy and the ceremony will be filmed.

Houston was found unconscious and submerged in a bathtub in her Beverly Hills Hilton hotel room on Saturday afternoon.

It is unclear what killed the famous singer but many reports speculate that Houston died from a lethal mix of prescription pills and alcohol.
