Bollywood Actress Killed by Co-Stars
A young Indian actress has been brutally murdered after her kidnappers did not receive the complete amount of ransom money they had demanded from her family.
Meenakshi Thapar, 26, was allegedly kidnapped and beheaded by two actors she had met during the filming of her latest film, Heroine.
According to officials involved with the case Amit Jaiswal and Preeti Surin devised their plan after they befriended Thapar and learned that her family was wealthy and was also highly regarded in certain social circles.
As part of their plan they invited her on a trip with them to Gorakhpur which is a small town close to India's border with Nepal.
Once the trio arrived in Gorakhpur they held Thapar hostage and sent a message to Thapar's parents demanding 1,500,000 Rupees ($20,000) as ransom for her release.
According to police, her capturers threatened her family by claiming that they would force Thapar to participate in pornography if the ransom was not paid.
Thapar's mother put 60,000 Rupees ($1,000) into her daughter's bank account so that her kidnappers could withdraw the money.
Unfortunately, soon after the money was deposited her captures strangled her to death and then beheaded their victim.
Officials explained that her body was dumped in a water tank and her head was thrown out of a bus window in a bag as the two killers were on their way to Mumbai.
"We are still investigating the case and both the accused along with a police team are visiting the crime spot. We have yet to recover the body," according to police officials.
"They wanted to extort money from her family. They have confessed to the crime. She was strangulated in a hotel and her body was hacked into pieces and thrown in a water tank. They threw her head from a moving bus while travelling back to Mumbai," officials told The Daily Telegraph.
