Brooke Mueller Checks Into Rehab; Twins to Remain With Denise Richards
Brooke Mueller has checked into UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles voluntarily after going missing for several hours. She was initially held for a psychological evaluation but disappeared after being released; her twin sons have been placed in the care of Charlie Sheen's ex-wife, Denise Richards.
"Brooke was released from the hold last week but she made the decision that it's in her best interest to seek treatment for her drug addiction at UCLA, at least, in the short term," a friend told Radar Online. "The plan is for Brooke to stabilize and then she'll move to another treatment facility soon."
"Brooke misses her children and wants to get healthy so she can resume her life and get back to being a mom," Mueller's representative, Steve Honig, said. Mueller will "likely transition directly into a residential treatment facility to get help for prescription drug abuse."

The star was held on a 5150 charge, which allows a person to be held involuntarily for a psychiatric evaluation if he or she is deemed a threat to himself or herself. Mueller was held for several hours before being released. In that time, the Department of Children and Family Services removed her 4-year-old twin boys out of Mueller's home and into that of Denise Richards.
"Charlie [Sheen, the boys' father] supports the actions of the Department of Children and Family Services," his publicist Larry Solters said. "He knows Max and Bob are safe and in a stable, loving environment with the boys' sisters. Charlie will fully cooperate and fully participate in all proceedings."
"The boys will stay with Denise for the foreseeable future, and social workers just won't hand the boys over to Brooke if she finally decides to get help. Brooke is going to have to jump through hoops just to get supervised visitation with the boys. Brooke was given every opportunity to clean up her act to avoid this, but she is just lost to the disease at this point," a source told Radar Online.
"Social workers will be checking up on the twins in Denise's care, which is routinely done. The sole concern of DCFS is that the boys are in a safe and secure home environment," the source added.
