Cameron Diaz's Rihanna-Like Accent Axed From 'The Counselor'
Cameron Diaz was embarrassed to admit that her original lines in "The Counselor" were removed from the film because her fake accent sounded similar to Rihanna.
The Californian actress portrays Malkina, the love interest to a drug dealer in the Ridley Scott film, which hit theaters last month.
However, Fox executives disapproved of Diaz's lines as the malicious "Argentinian" character, reported the The Hollywood Reporter.

Furthermore, the Diaz's lines were dubbed, and the star was forced to record her lines all over again for the final cut of the film since her original accent sounded "too much like Rihanna."
In an attempt to sound as though she was Latin American, Diaz reportedly likened her accent to that of Barbados-born Rihanna who is well-known for her thick accent.
Even film critic Sam Weisberg commented that Diaz "trips over her character's Barbadian accent," and Twitter users freely chastised the actress' performance.
"I didn't think The Counselor was as bad as everyone has made it out to be," wrote @MysteryGirl. "Cameron Diaz was terrible though."
Brandon added, "Also, after watching The Counselor, I don't think I can ever trust @CameronDiaz again. Not that I ever really did."
Co-starring amongst some of the biggest actors in Hollywood, including Michael Fassbender, Penelope Cruz, and Brad Pitt, Diaz was reportedly embarrassed and displeased with the studio's request.
Unsurprisingly, "The Counselor" fell flat at the box office, garnering only about $18 million worldwide so far, according to the Daily Mail.
Diaz is best-known for her roles in comedies such as "There's Something About Mary" and "Bad Teacher."
The 41-year-old star will next appear in "Sex Tape" alongside Jason Segel, and "Annie" which stars Rose Byrne and Jamie Foxx. Both films are expected in theaters next year.
