Cannibal Wife Denied Parole Despite Seeking 'Good Life God Meant' for Her
A woman who was convicted for the barbaric murder of her spouse two decades ago has been denied parole, despite asking for forgiveness to “live a good life God meant.”
Omaima Nelson, 43, cannibalized her then 56-year-old husband in 1993 for Thanksgiving, and brutally used BBQ sauce with her cannibalism.
She is currently serving 27 years to life in prison for second-degree murder.
Nelson told a parole board yesterday: “I am not a monster.”
She said she has changed and wanted “to live the good life God meant.”
She said she was sorry but continues to say her action to kill was in self-defense. She claims that she killed him only after her husband tried to strangle her.
"If I didn't defend my life, I would have been dead. I'm sorry it happened, but I'm glad I lived," she said. "I'm sorry I dismembered him."
Nelson has denied eating her husband, saying "I swear to God I did not eat any part of him. I am not a monster."
When asked by Commissioner Cynthia Fritz: “What was your purpose for cooking him?” she did not reply.
The Board of Parole rejected her plea for parole saying she was still a danger to society. She will not be able to seek parole again for another 15 years.
