Carl Beane Dies While Driving, Red Sox Announcer Mourned
Red Sox public address announcer Carl Beane has died in a single-vehicle crash after suffering a heart attack on Wednesday.
Known as "the voice of Fenway Park," Beane was 59 when he died in Sturbridge, Massachusetts. The state's native was driving alone in his 2004 Suzuki when the heart attack caused him to lose control of the car, according to a statement from the Boston Red Sox.
Golfers close to the scene at Hemlock Ridge Golf Course reported the crash to police before Beane was transported to Harrington Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

He served as announcer for the famed baseball stadium for nearly a decade.
"[Carl] adored the opportunity … to contribute to the culture of Fenway Park, a place he loved passionately," Red Sox President and CEO Larry Lucchino said in a statement. "No one loved his role with the Red Sox more than Carl did his."
Thursday, the baseball team will hold a tribute to Beane at Fenway Park before their game against the Cleveland Indians.
"All of Red Sox nation will remember his presence, his warmth, and his voice," added Lucchino.
Beane got his start in 1972 at WMAS as a radio station personality in Springfield, Mass. He became the voice at Fenway Park in 2003 after winning a competition, according to the statement from the Red Sox.
The announcer also lent his voice to the Baseball Hall Of Fame in Cooperstown, New York on its multimedia presentation, "The Baseball Experience."
"The voice of Fenway Park" is being mourned as Twitter users are posting messages of remembrance.
"My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Carl Beane," wrote Red Sox player David Ortiz. "Stepping up to the plate at Fenway won't be the same. #VoiceofFenway"
"Thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Carl Beane," posted Jacoby. "He will be forever missed by #RedSoxNation."
Baseball player Kevin Miller wrote, "Carl Beane R.I.P. my friend. A true gentleman and hard woeker (sic) who loved his job! His voice will be missed in Sox Nation and around the league"
Another Red Sox player, Darnell McDonald, wrote, "Sad to hear about [the] death of Carl Beane Thoughts and prayers for him and his family #RedSox"
Boston's professional football team, the New England Patriots, also posted a message on Twitter in honor of Beane, writing: "So sorry to hear of the loss of Carl Beane - voice of Fenway Park & longtime Patriots reporter. He will certainly be missed."
