Casting Crowns 'Lifesong' Debuts at No. 9 on Billboard's Top 200

The Atlanta-based septet is currently gearing up for their upcoming ''Lifesong Tour,'' which will feature Building 429 and guest speaker Tony Nolan.

Platinum-selling worship band Casting Crowns has once again established its presence in the Christian music industry, as Lifesong, the group’s sophomore project debuts at No. 9 this week on Billboard’s Top 200 album chart. Selling a total of 71,472 units, the album marks the highest first-week sales for a Christian act since November 2003.

Lifesong also claimed No. 1 on both Soundscan’s Top Christian and Combined album charts, as well as topped the Soundscan’s Christian/Gospel Digital Album chart, setting a new first-week record for Christian album downloads with 1,824 full album downloads.

The album is a follow up to Casting Crown’s self-titled debut, which sold over one million units and produced three No. 1 singles with, “If We Are the Body,” “Who Am I,” and “Voice of Truth.”

Casting Crowns’ most recent single, “Lifesong,” is found at the top spot on this week’s Billboard Hot Christian Singles chart, with the track also claiming the No. 2 position on the Hot Christian AC.

The Atlanta-based septet is currently gearing up for their upcoming “Lifesong Tour,” which kicks off on Sept. 29 in San Antonio. The tour, which is scheduled to hit nearly 40 cities, will also feature GMA Artist of Year Building 429 and guest speaker Tony Nolan.

“The psalmist says, ‘Taste and see that the Lord is good,’” says Nolan, “and I think that this tour is going to give people a good taste of what Jesus is all about.”
