Casting Crowns Snags Sixth American Music Award Nomination; Group Expresses Excitement Over Twitter
Casting Crowns scooped its sixth American Music Award nomination this week in the Favorite Artist- Contemporary Inspirational category.
Immediately following the nomination, Casting Crowns shared their pleasure on Twitter.
"We're excited to announce our nomination for #AMAs Favorite Artist – Contemporary Inspirational," the group wrote on Oct. 17th.
Amidst the AMA's honor, the contemporary Christian band continues to sweep both Christian song charts and secular music charts. "Thrive," Casting Crown's current release, was number-one on the Billboard Contemporary Christian Albums Chart and ranked number-six on the Billboard Top 200 Chart. Consequently, the group is up for an American Music Award next month.
A fan-voted show, the 2014 AMA's will be broadcast live from Los Angeles' Nokia Theater on Nov. 23. The winners are solely determined by votes cast online as well as Twitter. Voting has already begun, and to show your support for Casting Crowns, visit the AMA website here.
Casting Crowns is not the only Christian group to be recognized at the AMA's this year. Hillsong UNITED was also nominated in the Contemporary Inspirational Category, marking the worship band's first AMA nomination ever. Rounding out the nominees in the Contemporary Inspirational category is the Newsboys, but other AMA nominees in other categories include Lorde, Pharrell Williams, Beyonce, Drake, Carrie Underwood, and Katy Perry, among many others.
Meanwhile, Casting Crowns is one of the most successful contemporary Christian groups consisting of Mark Hall, Melodee Deveo, Brian Scoggin, Megan Garrett, Juan Devevo, Chris Huffman and Josh Mix. The group has three Platinum albums as well as six Gold albums and currently holds the position as Billboard's top-selling act in Christian music since 2007.
As Casting Crowns prepares for the AMA's, the group is also continuing their 2014-15 Thrive Tour which ends at Carnegie Hall on Jan. 25, 2015. The highly successful tour has seen nine sellout dates so far, including the famed Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colo.
