CCC ''Big Break'' For Students on Spring Break

Students on Spring Break from colleges around the nation convened for an alternative Spring Break - Campus Crusade for Christ's longtime beach evangelism program, "Big Break." As college students descended on the tropical resort in Panama City, Fl., a popular Spring Break destination, around 3,000 CCC students received training to learn how to share their faith with other students. From March 6th to the 27th, , CCC hosted three conferences, each lasting one week, the typical length of time for Spring Break.

“Big Break provides students a spring break with a purpose, combining a week of fun at Panama City Beach with a life-changing Christian conference,” explains Keith Davy, Big Break Conference Director. “The conference setting creates a high-energy environment in which students develop deeper relationships with God and each other. The beach provides the setting where participants enjoy the sun, surf and sand while engaging others in significant conversations about God, life and spiritual issues.”

Several Big Break students were evangelized during this outreach. Students were filling out a survey that asks deep questions about life and death - QUEST Survey - when "one guy was acting kind of goofy and making fun of what our students were saying. Suddenly, his friend started to cry."

"After a few more minutes of conversation, his friend made that faith decision the Big Break students were talking about. Right there on the beach, he prayed and began a personal relationship with God through Jesus," reported Tony Arnold, CCC spokesperson.

Though Spring Break may be the "stereotypical" time for "students to head south for sun, sand, surf, suds and sex," below the surface, "I think many students are really longing to meet someone," they can connect with emotionally and spiritually, said Arnold, and "that’s where Campus Crusade for Christ students attending Big Break come in."
