Channing Tatum to Direct Adaptation of A Jo Nesbo Thriller?

Channing Tatum and his producing partner Reid Carolin are rumored to be attached to Jo Nesbo's crime thriller "The Son" as directors, according to reports this week.

In the past, Tatum has been very vocal about his desire to move from acting into directing. While the project is in its early stages, the actor and Carolin hope to produce and direct the big screen adaptation to Nesbo's thriller, according to Deadline.

"The Son" is centered on a charming young prisoner who breaks out of jail in order to learn the truth about his father's death, and during the pursuit of revenge, he begins to rectify the crimes to which he confessed. Nesbo is also well known for his best-selling novels "The Snowman," which is now a Working Title project that has Martin Scorsese and screenwriter Matthew Michael Carnahan attached. The Norwegian author also penned "Blood on the Snow" under the pseudonym Tom Johansson.

Tatum most recently stars in "Jupiter Ascending" but he and Carolin have been attached as a producers on such films as "Magic Mike," "White House Down" and "10 Years." The longtime producing partners also have plans to collaborate again on "Magic Mike 2." The actor revealed his plans to go behind the camera with Carolin in 2012.

"We have about three to four ideas that we love that are all in the hopper," the 33-year-old actor said to Entertainment Weekly at the time. "By the end of next year, we're going to shut things down and write the first thing that we're going to direct."

In the past year alone, Tatum has appeared in a whopping five hit films. However, the "21 Jumpstreet" star noted that his departure from acting will benefit his career in Hollywood.

"We're going to be like, alright, no more acting parts for a minute, let's take a few and really get caring about that section of our career," he said. "I love the steps that I've taken acting-wise, that has been a wild sort of exploration. But I don't want to just keep putting [directing] off for these fun and incredible opportunities."
