Chevy Chase 'Community' Rant: Actor Apologizes for Racial Slur
Chevy Chase is at the center of another brewing controversy after he went on a racially insensitive rant during production of the comedy series "Community."
Several reports indicate that Chase began to become agitated over the current direction that his character is following, and felt that the portrayal of his character has become increasingly bigoted and narrow-minded over the last few years.
There are also rumors that Chase has been becoming increasingly uncomfortable with the material that he has been asked to cover, and has been frustrated in talks with writers, which have produced very little in terms of compromise.

Sources told entertainment website TMZ that during one of the heated exchanges, Chase momentarily lost his cool and reportedly said, "What's next? Am I gonna say the word n-----?"
Witnesses present said the Chase immediately apologized to the staff and stated that his outburst was not directed to two of the show's African-American co-stars, Donald Glover and Nicole Brown.
This follows another incident involving Chevy Chase and former "Community" director Dan Harmon, when Chase was caught bemoaning the show's lack of creativity and humor.
An audio clip previously released by Celebuzz.com features Chase calling the show "just a f------ mediocre sitcom."
The recording was just another instance of a series of conflicts between Chase and Harmon.
"I want people to laugh and this isn't funny," Chase reportedly said on the tape. "It ain't funny to me because I'm 67 years old and I've been doing this a long time. I've been making a lot of people laugh a lot better than this."
Following the confrontation back in April, Harmon was dropped from the show, but the problems have continued as the show struggles to attract a larger audience.
"Community" was originally set to premiere last Friday, Oct. 19, but NBC has since rescheduled its premiere for an undetermined date.
