CNN Dog Poop and Bob Furnad: Ex-Exec Admits Prank Was 'Immature'

An ex-CNN executive shoved dog poop into a neighbor's mailbox, and the man, Bob Furnad, later admitted that his actions were "immature" but deserved.

The CNN dog poop prank by Furnad took place last week, when the former president of CNN-affiliated Headline News left a bag of excrement in his neighbors' mailbox in Covington, Georgia. The house, belonging to Benjamin Dameron and Ralph Miller, was equipped with a security camera that captured Furnad in the act.

"We cannot figure out why he did it," Dameron told ABC News. At this point we really don't care why he did it."

The pair was "shocked" to discover the prank just a few hours after Furnad did it, accompanied by his dog. Furnad, who is also a professor at the University of Georgia, owned up to his crime. He told police and local media that the poo-poo prank was less a practical joke, and more an issue of revenge.

"This was an immature act in response to years of malicious rumor mongering that I consider defamation of character," he told the Covington News. Although the man did not elaborate as to the rumors, he is also a community leader, which could be where his interaction with his neighbors soured.

Dameron and Miller deny any instance of a feud, however; they claim that they have lived in Covington for over 20 years, and have not spoken to Furnad for the last several years. They're also "over" the act-they didn't pursue the prank any further.

"You know it was a silly thing to do, and we're over it. I mean it's just a silly prank," Dameron said.

Police didn't necessarily view it that way. Furnad was fined $181 dollars for littering. Dameron, who did not sue, told local media that the embarrassment was punishment enough.

"I think this is embarrassing enough for him, as well as everyone in Covington," explained the neighbor.
