Cory Monteith Dead After Heroin, Alcohol Overdose; Lea Michele Grieving With Actor's Family
"Glee" star Cory Monteith died of a heroin and alcohol overdose, it has been revealed.
On Saturday "Glee" fans were shattered after learning about Monteith's death and on Tuesday the Vancouver Police Department confirmed cause of death during a press conference. The actor had a history of substance abuse.
"Mr. Monteith was alone [in his hotel room] when he died," a VPD spokesperson said according to RadarOnline.com. "He took the heroin when he was alone by himself."

Monteith, who played Finn Hudson alongside Michele on the popular TV series, was reportedly found dead alone in his hotel room Saturday by staff at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver, British Columbia. Authorities confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
The actor, who was 31 at the time of his death, spent a night out with friends Friday before heading back to his hotel room during the early hours of Saturday morning. Police reportedly found evidence in his hotel room that was consistent with a drug overdose.
"There was no sign of anything suspicious or out of the ordinary [but]...there was evidence in the room that was consistent with a drug overdose," the spokesperson revealed.
"I won't go into specifics about what was in the room, but that was our investigators' initial finding, that they believed it was a drug overdose" the rep added.
As the investigation continues, Monteith's loved ones, including his longtime girlfriend Lea Michele, have been left to grieve their loss. The "Glee" actress, 26, allegedly began dating her co-star in early 2012 and she was a strong source of support for Monteith, who first entered rehab at age 19.
"Lea is deeply grateful for all the love and support she's received from family, friends, and fans. Since Cory's passing, Lea has been grieving alongside his family and making appropriate arrangements with them," a rep for Michele said in a statement to People magazine.
"They are supporting each other as they endure this profound loss together. We continue to ask the media to respect the privacy of Lea and Cory's family," the statement added.
