Couple Attacked by Rhinos After Being Urged to Move Closer by Safari Guide (VIDEO)
A couple has been attacked by rhinos after posing for a photo and being urged to move closer to the rhinos by a wildlife expert leading their safari.
Chantal Beyer, 24, and her boyfriend were visiting a South African nature park, enjoying the amazing experience of getting to see various wild animals, when they came across some wandering rhinos.
Safari tour guide Alex Richter allegedly told the tourists to get out and take photos. He even tried to get the rhinos to come closer to them by enticing them with food.
Beyer and her boyfriend can been seen in photos together standing in front of the rhinos.
Richter then urged them to move a little closer to the rhinos, according to Africaans newspaper, the Beeld.
However, as they move closer the rhinos turned and attacked them, goring Beyer from behind in an horrific incident. The huge rhino's horn reportedly penetrated Beyers' chest from behind, causing her severe injuries, including a collapsed lung as well as broken ribs.
Beyer, who is a student from Johannesburg, was taken to intensive care at a Krugersdorp hospital. Despite the horrific attack she was made comfortable and is reportedly in a stable condition.
Beyer's uncle, Thom Peeters, has said, "There were quite a few young people on the vehicle and they probably felt they could trust Richter, who was an adult," according to the Beeld.
