Cressida Bonas to Meet Queen Elizabeth? Prince Harry Could Reveal Engagement This Summer
Are Prince Harry and girlfriend Cressida Bonas planning to take the next step in their relationship? Reports state that Harry is planning to introduce Cressida to his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, this summer at her home in Balmoral.
"Prince Harry is expected to bring Cressida. It is the talk of the estate," a source at the Balmoral retreat told Daily Mail.
It would be the first time the 25-year-old would meet the Queen and could signal a new step in her relationship with Harry. Many royal watchers know that meeting the Queen is a rite of passage for any royal bride-to-be and could precede a major announcement from the couple, who recently attended their first official engagement together.
Kate Middleton and her parents were invited to Balmoral and she and Prince William announced their engagement the following month. The royal couple was then given use of a cottage to spend weekends together while still attending St. Andrews University. It was a sign and a blessing of sorts from the Queen and the rest of the royal family.
Cressida and Harry made headlines when they attended the WE Day United Kingdom event at Wembley Arena this weekend. It was the first time they were together at an official engagement where Harry gave a keynote address, and it marked the first public display of affection, when Cressida leaned in for a kiss with the prince. The very next day they attended a rugby match at Twickenham and again caused a stir simply by being together.
The couple has endured its ups and downs throughout its two-year relationship, including Harry's four-month deployment to Afghanistan. This is one of the most serious relationships the younger prince has been in, causing many to wonder if Cressida is the one who has finally captured his heart and will get him to settle down and be in a committed relationship.
"Cressida is going to marry Harry," one of her friends told the media last year. "Harry never stops talking about marriage and children, and she has not got used to the idea. The wedding is likely to take place next year."
Buckingham Palace spokesmen would not comment on Harry's relationship.
