Dancing With the Stars 2011: Second Round of Performances Monday

The remaining couples on “Dancing with the Stars” have practiced all week and will be back on the dance floor tonight competing for the mirrorball trophy.

Cast members showed off their dance skills for the first time during the 13th season premiere last week.

Following the debut performances, judges and viewers voted off Metta World Peace, formerly known as Ron Artest, and his professional dance partner, Petra Murgatroyd.

Nancy Grace and partner Trista MacManus earned 16 points from the panel of judges and narrowly escaped elimination last week.

Reports indicate that Grace has spent hours in rehearsal for the next competition Monday, maintaining her claim: “I’m certainly not the youngest, skinniest, prettiest- but I’ve got a lot of heart.”

This week, the stars have been working hard to impress judges during their jive performances Monday night.

“Mark and I have been rehearsing since 8 in the morning, which Mark’s not happy about,” Kristin Cavallari told the camera during last week’s taping of the show. “We’ve been here for five hours almost, so we’re a little sweaty, but it’s been fun.”

“DWTS” competitor and former talk show host Ricki Lake has received media coverage for her weight loss from rehearsing for the show. Her partner, Derek Hough, wrote on his Twitter account Monday, “Time to jive with the Lake…”

Lake, also a Twitter user, wrote “All spray-tanned and ready to jive! #DWTS @derekhough.”

The season’s most-talked-about competitor, Chaz Bono, achieved a score of 17 out of 30 last week, while Kristin Cavallari was said to be “naturally coordinated” and scored 19 points.

Chynna Phillips and her professional dance partner Tony Davolani was tied at the top with J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff for their Viennese waltzes, scoring 22 points each.

The remaining eleven couples will continue the competition Monday live at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.

Monday’s performances will be recapped during the “Dancing with the Stars” results show the following day, and the second elimination will be announced.
