Demi Lovato, 'Heart Attack' Singer on Simon Cowell: He's 'Mean' But 'Honest'
Demi Lovato has heaped praise on "X Factor" creator Simon Cowell in a recent interview.
The "Skyscraper" singer joined "X-Factor" as a judge last year and is often faced with difficult decisions on the reality singing competition. Cowell, who has served as a judge on "X Factor" as well as "Britain's Got Talent" and "American Idol," is well known for his blunt and controversial criticisms pertaining to contestants and their musical abilities.
Despite the 53-year-old judges' occasional insults and wisecracks, Lovato admitted that she admires Cowell's ability to "tell it like it is."
"Whatever he has to say, it's the honest truth," the 20-year-old singer told Heat magazine recently. "Sometimes I don't agree with him, but most of the time he says what I'm wanting to say but, like, I just physically can't because it's so mean!"
Furthermore, Lovato voiced her confidence in Cowell- that the television producer "knows what he's doing."
"He's gonna tell you straight up, whether you want to hear it or not," said the singer of her fellow "X Factor" judge.
Meanwhile, Lovato and Cowell along with new judges Paulina Rubio and Kelly Rowland are gearing up for the second season of the show.
The judges are currently in the middle of auditions for the next season and have three more cities to visit before the live premiere takes place on Fox this fall.
In addition to her singing career and serving as a judge on "X Factor," Lovato remains very active in her efforts to combat teen drug use. Back in May, the singer attended an event honoring the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration in D.C. and promoting National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day.
Lovato, whose fans are known as "Lovatics," is best known for the songs "Heart Attack" and "Give Your Heart A Break," among many others.
