'Deeply disturbed': Democrats, Republicans react to second Trump assassination attempt
Kamala Harris
The 2024 Democratic presidential hopeful, Vice President Kamala Harris, said in a Sunday statement that she is "deeply disturbed" by the news of the apparent assassination attempt against Trump. Harris declared that she condemns political violence.
"We all must do our part to ensure that this incident does not lead to more violence," she stated.
"I am thankful that former President Trump is safe. I commend the U.S. Secret Service and law enforcement partners for their vigilance. As President Biden said, our Administration will ensure the Secret Service has every resource, capability, and protective measure necessary to carry out its critical mission."
During ABC News' presidential debate last Tuesday, Trump blamed the rhetoric of the Biden administration and other Democrats for the attempt on his life at the Pennslyvania rally in July. Trump said that he believes he "took a bullet to the head" because of the things Democrats have said about him, such as Trump being a "threat to Democracy."
