DWTS Results Show: Ricki Lake Dedicates Waltz to Grandmother, Slated to Win

Ricki Lake has dedicated Monday’s waltz to her grandmother on the DWTS show.

“I was actually doing it for my grandmother, my deceased grandmother,” said the 42-year-old former talk show host of her performance. “I was just thinking about her.”

Speaking to OnTheRedCarpet.com Lake talked about her pro dancing partner Derek Hough, the three-time “DWTS” champion.

“It was so hard not to fall in love with Derek during that dance,” said Lake, who is engaged to Christian Evans. “It was one of my favorites of the season. I felt like I did a really good job. I am so in love with this guy!”

She later cleared up the statement about Hough, saying, “I was so in love with him for the 90 seconds that we did [the dance]!”

Lake and Hough received 28 points out of 30 for their waltz on Monday’s Performance Show, and then 24 points out of 30 for their instant jive, tying them with Hope Solo and partner Maks Chmerkoviskiy earning 52 points total.

Another strong contender on this season of ABC’s dance competition is actor J.R. Martinez and his partner Karina Smirnoff who earned two perfect scores Monday. With a total of 60 points and breaking new ground of “DWTS,” Martinez remains a favorite and Lake’s main competition for the coveted mirror ball trophy.

Lake mentioned the competition with Martinez, and said the contest is really within herself.

“I want to keep getting better and better, and so it’s disappointing when I don’t get me best,” said Lake. “I work hard all week long that you only want to put out your best performance on the night of, so it’s really about me wanting to perfect things with my performance.”

Only four couples remain on “DWTS.” They will return to the dance floor Monday on ABC at 8 p.m. EST.
