DWTS Semi Finals: Who Will Go Home Tuesday?

In tonight’s episode of “Dancing with the Stars” the final four couples will continue the fight for the mirror ball trophy. The ninth round of performances will see another elimination Tuesday, and the couples are urging fans to tune in and vote.

So far, season 13 has seen 75 dances and eight surprising and difficult eliminations, including that of Kristin Cavallari, Chaz Bono, and most recently, Nancy Grace.

The four remaining stars have prepared three dance routines for the night alongside their professional dance partners.

Remaining contestant J.R. Martinez and his partner Karina Smirnoff remain the season’s strongest contenders for the mirror ball trophy. The couple have ruled the scoreboard and earned the season’s only perfect scores, twice.

The actor and Iraq war veteran earned his lowest score during week 1 while he and Smirnoff performed the Viennese waltz, but since has surprised the judges as well as fans with vastly improved dancing skills.

Ahead of week nine performances, Martinez posted on his Twitter account that he has injured his ankle during rehearsal.

“Long day at rehearsal was able to get thru 3 routines but it ended on a bad note twisted my right ankle. Treating it.”

Former talk show host and fellow “DWTS” favorite Ricki Lake also sustained an injury this season when she pulled a muscle during rehearsal. Regardless, she and her partner Derek Hough are strong performers and believed by many to be the best dancers on the show. Consistently receiving high scores in addition to Hough being a three-time “DWTS” champion put the couple at the top of the final four.

U.S. Women’s National Soccer star Hope Solo remains in the competition for the mirror ball trophy despite poor performances and the judges’ disapproval of her shaky footing. Her partner Maks Chmerkoviskiy was also the subject of harsh judgments and faced criticism for claiming that “DWTS” was his show. The couple’s performance tonight must be strong in order to stay.

Reality television star Rob Kardashian has been named Twitter’s favorite “DWTS” contestant. He and his partner Cheryl Burke will return Monday night as part of the final four, and have made impressive progress since week 1.

Over the weekend, Kardashian posted on Twitter about the work he was doing on this week’s performance, writing: “Time to bang out this 6 hour straight rehearsal. Learning the Argentine Tango, the Samba, and the Cha Cha this week. YIKES!”

The show’s co-host Brooke Burke Charvet posted on Twitter ahead of performance night, writing, “I can’t believe tomorrow is the #dwts semi finals! This season went too fast.”

“Dancing with the Stars” airs on ABC at 8 p.m. EST.
