Elton John and Madonna Feud: 'Fairgound Stripper' Comments Reignite Battle

Elton John has accused Madonna of acting like a "fairground stripper" and performing inappropriately in recent months has she has taken on her usual routine to try and cause as much controversy as possible on her tour.

British pop star Elton John made his rant on Australian TV when he looked to defend his son Zachary's godmother, Lady Gaga, against repeated rebukes by Madonna. John said of Madonna, "Why is she such a nightmare? Sorry, her career is over. Her tour has been a disaster."

His rant continued with him saying that Madonna's career was over and that she has chosen poorly in what records to release and how to conduct herself in recent years.

"If Madonna had any common sense she would have made a record like Ray Of Light and stayed away from the dance stuff and just been a great pop singer and make great pop records, which she does brilliantly," John claimed.

He added, "But no, she had to go and prove... she looks like a ******* fairground stripper. She's been horrible to Gaga."

Madonna has made a number of attacks on Lady Gaga in recent months as she has taken to her MDNA tour. She has rebuked Gaga for the similarity between the 26 year old's "Born this Way" song and her own 1989 smash hit "Express Yourself." The ageing pop queen has said about Gaga's Born this Way track, "I'm glad that I could help her write it."

Elton John and Madonna have a long running feud which has lasted nearly a decade. They had more than two years of snipping at one another before they publicly hugged at the GQ Awards five years ago. However, that was the only time they have seemed to reconcile and it seems like it was only temporary.

At the Golden Globes this year Elton John's gay partner David Furnish ranted after Madonna won "Best Original Song" ahead of John and Gaga: "Madonna. Best song????"

"Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit," Furnish claimed at the time. "Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism. And her criticism of Gaga shows how desperate she really is."
