Elton John Partner Backtracks Over Madonna Feud
David Furnish has attempted to defuse a potential rift with music star Madonna, after criticizing her Golden Globes win, saying that the media had blown his comments way out of proportion.
Elton John’s partner was left disappointed when Madonna won the Best Song award at Sunday’s Golden Globes. However, rather than accept John’s loss a be a good loser, Furnish took to his Twitter account to rant his feelings.
“Madonna. Best Song???? **** ***!!!”
He later added: “I think it was a fluke... When this happens you have to question the integrity of the awards. Did Madonna get the Golden Globe because she attended the awards and agreed be a presenter?”
However, Furnish has since attempted to defuse any potential row with the pop star, describing the media coverage of his comments as a “tempest in a teapot.”
He again took to his Facebook to write: "My comments regarding The Golden Globes have been blown way out of proportion. My passion for our film Gnomeo & Juliet and belief in Elton's song really got my emotional juices going. But I must say for the record that I do believe Madonna is a great artist."
