Emmy Awards: Charlie Sheen Offers Best Wishes to New '2.5 Men' Cast
Former “Two and a Half Men” star Charlie Sheen has offered the new cast his best wishes during the Emmy Awards Sunday night.
“I want to take a moment to get something off my chest and say a few words to everybody here from ‘Two and a Half Men,’” said Sheen as silence fell over the audience.
“From the bottom of my heart, I wish nothing but the best for this upcoming season,” continued Sheen. “We spent eight wonderful years together, and I know you will continue to make great television.”
Sheen presented the Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a comedy series, which he called, “my old category,” before he announced Jim Parsons as the winner.
Fox was reportedly pressured to cut Sheen from the awards show for fear that he would insult audience members.
After a public meltdown and being fired from the CBS comedy last spring, Sheen’s presentation was warm and genuine. To further emphasize his contentment, Sheen tweeted pictures after the awards show of he and his replacement on “Men,” Ashton Kutcher.
“Giving the new kid a little advice!” Sheen wrote on his Twitter account.
Last week, Sheen appeared on the “Tonight Show” where he told host Jay Leno that he should have been fired from “Men.”
The media rounds are believed to be Sheen’s attempt to repair his image after his previous outlandish comments, including his claim of having “tiger blood.”
In an angry rant, the 46-year-old actor accused his former “Men” boss Chuck Lorre of being a “maggot” and a “sociopath,” and his co-star, Job Cryer, of being “a turncoat, traitor, and a troll.”
The Emmy Awards appearance by Sheen will be followed by Comedy Central’s Charlie Sheen Roast airing on Monday night.
Also, the season premiere of “Two and a Half Men” will premiere on CBS at 9 p.m. EST Monday, marking Kutcher’s debut on the show.
