'Entourage' Season 8 Could Lead to Hit Show Becoming a Movie

As “Entourage” season 8 commenced recently in dramatic style, rumors were circulating Thursday at the Television Critics Association (TCA) Summer Session that the hit HBO series could be made into a feature film.

Members of the cast and producers of the show met in Beverly Hills to discuss financing and the wrap-up of the show’s final episode later this year.

Creator and Executive Producer Dough Ellin told reporters at the TCA, “We’re gonna do a movie. It’s a question of when, how quick (we can) … come up with an idea and make it happen.”

Fellow Executive Producer Mark Wahlberg added, “I said if I had to finance it myself I would do it,” about making an “Entourage” movie, according to Access Hollywood.

“I certainly hope that this has a chance to become a feature film and people have always complained that the episodes are too short and they want to go on a journey with these guys,” Wahlberg continued.

In the concluding season of the show, Ellin told reporters there will be “no major deaths, there’s no major things.”

Possibly in preparation for an “Entourage” movie, he continued, “We wanted to leave it with an element of, ‘we loved hanging out with these guys and we are going to miss them’.”

“Entourage” premiered on HBO in 2004 and has since received critical acclaim around the world. The show follows the acting career of character Vincent Chase, a successful young movie star from Queens, New York. Vincent and his friends, characters E, Turtle, and Drama, relocate to Los Angeles, California together and encounter real-life situations found in today’s Hollywood.

Mark Wahlberg, EP of “Entourage” as well as HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire”, is famed for his roles in “Boogie Nights”, “The Departed,” and more recently, “The Fighter,” among many other movies.

The premise of “Entourage” is loosely based on the actual events of Wahlberg’s journey to stardom.

The eighth and final season of “Entourage” has seven remaining episodes and next airs Sundays on HBO at 10:30 P.M. EST.
