Erykah Badu 'Adores' Nicki Minaj Amid Rumors of Mockery

Erykah Badu performed at the 2012 Afro Punk Festival recently where she sang and danced to a shortened version of Nicki Minaj's "Beez in the Trap." However, the performance caused some to question if Badu was mocking Minaj, prompting the former to clear the air on Twitter.

Badu, 41-year-old neo-soul artist who also goes by the monikers Loretta Brown, Analog Girl in a Digital World, Fat Belly Bella and Medulla Oblongata, sang to the Minaj's song with the help of a live band. The singer and DJ remixed the tune adding her own words and saying, "This is what she should have said...," which prompted some to question if she was mocking the 29-year-old Queens, New York rapper.

Badu's remixed version of Minaj's song featured the lyrics, "Cats ain't (expletive) cuz they ain't catching nothing, I'm trying to figure out how to catch these rodents...cheese in the trap." Although the audience cheered at Badu's remix before the song switched into her own popular track "Danger," some people took to Twitter to question the artist.
