'Fast and Furious 6' Trailer Revealed During Super Bowl (VIDEO)
The "Fast and Furious 6" trailer shown during the Super Bowl has been making its rounds on the internet, with many fans of the iconic car-racing series eager for the next installment. Returning are many fan favorites like Paul Walker and Vin Diesel in addition to some surprises.
The "Fast and Furious 6" trailer was shown during the first quarter of Super Bowl XLVII and featured the high-tension chases and explosions the series is known for. In addition to originals Paul Walker and Vin Diesel, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese, Chris "Ludacris" Bridges, Sung Kang, Gal Gadot, and Elsa Pataky will be returning. Luke Evans and Gina Carano are added to the cast as well.
For fans of the series, Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), the main love interest of Dominic Toretto (Diesel) who died in "Fast & Furious," is back. She is far from being Toretto's right-hand woman, though; she now plays second fiddle to the gang's new enemy (Evans).
The latest Fast and Furious film deals with the consequences of the gang's actions since "Fast Five," when they stole $100 million from the criminal kingpin of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Although they are rich, they cannot go back to their homes, however.
"Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers … whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez)," the synopsis for the film reads.
"Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again," it continued.
Some moviegoers are tired of the formulaic action racer, but others just can't get enough.
"This franchise has to be about zombies, because it JUST WON'T DIE!!!!" TDanger wrote on the Huffington Post blog.
"I am not ashamed to admit I love these movies. There, I said it," another user opined.
If general interest is any clue, "Fast and Furious 6" may not be the last of the films. The movies have earned $1.5 billion total, with the last installment alone raking in $626 million worldwide. Justin Lin will again direct this coming movie.
"Fast and Furious 6" hits theaters May 24.
