'Final Fantasy XV Episode Ignis' Release Date News: DLC to Launch on Dec. 13
Sony had a lot to share during their PlayStation Media Showcase at this year's Paris Games Week 2017, one of which was a tease for the upcoming "Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ignis." A launch date has been set as well.
During the company's PlayStation Media Showcase pre-show, the tech giant revealed a new trailer for the Ignis-centered bonus chapter.
"Episode Ignis" revolves around a new storyline, the character's journey on the streets of Altissia. In the expansion, players will be able to equip themselves with Ignis' spelldaggers, which can be infused with elemental properties of their choosing. For instance, the "Total Clarity" ability, once equipped, should enable players to hit multiple targets simultaneously.
In the chapter, the titular character will team up make a new friend and ally, Ravus.
The trailer kicks off with what appears to be a meeting between a younger Ignis and Prompto. It later transitions to a scene in which the character heads off to battle on a boat.
Furthermore, the expansion has multiple endings. Each should be determined by the choices players make along the way.
Another thing that gamers should look forward to is Yasunori Mitsuda's musical score. Mitsuda, who is best known for his work on "Chrono Tigger," serves as guest composer in "Episode Ignis."
Since developer Square Enix launched the main game "Final Fantasy XV" late last year, they have developed and released DLCs focusing on Gladio and Prompto. "Comrades," a new online multiplayer expansion is also slated to launch next month ahead of the aforementioned DLC. It was initially slated to debut in November but was pushed back for final adjustments.
"Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ignis" is scheduled to debut on Dec. 13 of this year. It will be priced at $5. It also comes as part of the season pass.
