'Fixer Upper' Set to End After Season 5
There is a saying that "all good things must come to an end" — even if that something is one of the most successful shows in the home improvement and real estate scene.
HGTV's "Fixer Upper" series hosted by Chip and Joanna Gaines will come to an end after season 5. The sad announcement came from a post from the couple's blog site.
"It is with both sadness and expectation that we share the news that season 5 of Fixer Upper will be our last," read the post. "While we are confident that this is the right choice for us, it has for sure not been an easy one to come to terms with. Our family has grown up alongside yours, and we have felt you rooting us on from the other side of the screen. How bittersweet to say goodbye to the very thing that introduced us all in the first place," the couple added.
The Gaineses explained that the reason behind the tough decision is the need to slow down a bit and focus on other important things. They noted that they need to give more love and attention to their family and businesses while improving on their weaknesses.
Furthermore, they dispelled any speculation that their decision was influenced by a skin care line scam that is being linked to them. Moreover, they also said that they went all out for the fans in Season 5.
Meanwhile, CNN reported that the show's producer was very supportive of the couple's decision and that they are very proud of the upcoming final season. "We respect and are in full support of their decision to take time to focus on their family and their many projects through Magnolia," said Jim Berger, CEO of High Noon Entertainment.
With the Gaineses' impending departure from television, their fans can expect them to get their hands busy with their other business endeavors. The couple is currently managing The Magnolia House rental business and the Silos Baking Co., both in Waco, among others.
"Fixer Upper" season 5 airs sometime in November.
