'Fixer Upper' Stars Troop to Houston to Help Rebuild Homes Ravaged by Harvey

The damage of Hurricane Harvey has been so enormous that Houston residents are still scrambling to get back on their feet. Thankfully, support continues to come in, especially from fellow Texans who know a lot about homes — like Chip and Joanna Gaines.

The stars of HGTV's "Fixer Upper" went to Houston this week to help repair and rebuild damaged homes, according to a KHou.com report. The couple partnered with Exxon-Mobil, who also went to the city to volunteer.

According to USA Today, the Gaineses arrived in Houston on Sunday then proceeded to the home of Doris Davis, an 81-year-old resident. The report said that during the height of Harvey back in August, Davis' home experienced two feet of water. Despite the serious task at hand, Chip and Joanna still made sure to keep the mood light.

"Full speed ahead. Man, we pulled into town and these boys said 'Hey, let's go to work,'" shared Chip, recalling their arrival in Houston. "I said, 'Great you're speaking my language.' Now, Jo on the other hand, she got her nails done this morning," he joked. Joanna laughingly responded "No, I didn't."

Davis, for her part, was surprised and elated at the thought of having the Gaineses rebuilding her home. "Honey, it's like an explosion that you didn't know about! I mean, I wasn't expecting this, honey," she said.

"I don't know if I was so frightened, from all this going on, I really could not move," added Davis as she recounted her ordeal.

Exonn-Mobil, on the other hand, stressed the importance of working together to rebuild the community. "You have to help everybody get on their feet. Because you're only as good as the weakest link in the community and that's what we're about," said Bryan Milto
