Florida DNC Chair: 'Fundamentalist Christians ... Want Jews to Die and Convert' (VIDEO)

There is outrage brewing over comments made by the Palm Beach County Democratic Party Chairman during the Democratic National Convention in which he states that Christians want to "slaughter" Jews so there can be a "second coming of Christ."

During an interview that was posted on the conservative website, PatriotUpdate.com, Mark Alan Siegel, the Palm Beach County Democratic Party Chairman, began a tirade that accused fundamentalist Christians of not being real friends of Israel and holding alternative motives to advance their agenda.

"I'm Jewish. I'm not a fan of any religion other than Judaism," Siegel said. When pressed if he is a supporter of Christianity, Siegel responded: "No, I'm not. The Christians just want us to be there so we can be slaughtered and converted and bring on the second coming of Jesus Christ."

"They're not our friends They want Israel to pursue policies which are antithetical with its security and existence," Siegel elaborated on his comments. "The worst possible allies for the Jewish state are the fundamentalist Christians who want Jews to die and convert so they can bring on the second coming of their Lord. It is a false friendship. They are seeking their own ends and not ours."

Scottie Neil Hughes, a reporter who represents PatriotTV and the Tea Party News Network, conducted the interview and was shocked to encounter such a response.

"I have heard from both Christians and members of the Jewish faith who are upset and ashamed of this man's comment … I find it ironic that while we here at a convention focused on unity, the first quote I get is filled with so much hate," she said.

However, she did see where Christians and Jews could disgree, especially when it came to politics regarding Israel.

"I noticed a man who had a Hebrew language pin which was obviously for Obama … And I simply asked him, 'As a man of Jewish faith, why do you support Barack Obama for a second term when the DNC platform almost completely ignores Israel?'" Hughes recounted to TheDC.com.
