French Graphic Novel 'S.E.N.S' Gets a VR Game
With the advent of virtual technology, applications for such technology follow suit. Now, it's the graphic novel by French comics artist Marc-Antoine Mathieu's titled "S.E.N.S." that is getting its own virtual reality game. According to a Tech Times report, a new VR game that is based on the popular graphic novel is coming soon and will be released sometime September.
The project is the very first ever VR adaptation of a graphic novel and is being done by French production company Red Corner. As it is based on the novel, the game is set in same monochrome landscape which shifts shape and form, where the player needs to follow the arrows in order to get through the game.
The player needs to follow the trail of an "anonymous gumshoe" who goes around the world that is called "Alphaville." One must contend with the changing landscape, which changes both in scale and proportion, as a player searches for something. According to the report, the object of the search differs from player to player.
Demos of the upcoming VR experience were provided during the recent Tribeca Film Festival. According to another report in Inverse, the game is a "hybrid experience that combines elements of gameplay, graphic novels, and film, putting viewers in the shoes of a detective chasing a mystery – quite literally."
Based on a preview of the game itself, the report described the experience as such: players need to watch out for arrows found in the world, and by moving one's head in any direction, one can choose an arrow and hold one's gaze on it in order for it to move in the direction it is pointing to.
A Kickstarter campaign has been started by Red Corner in order to develop S.E.N.S. specifically for the HTC Vive, which will allow players to do more physical activities with the game. When the game launches in September, it will be downloadable for free on the App Store and Google Play for the cardboard version of VR, and at Samsung Gear and Oculus retail outlets and Steam.
