Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3, JellyBean Update Rolls Out for Verizon Following Galaxy S3
The Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.3, JellyBean update began rolling out for Verizon customers earlier today.
This update follows the roll out for the Galaxy S3 which started yesterday. The build is VRUEMJ and it is already available to many Verizon users and should continue to roll out to the rest as the weeks progress.
Various changes come with the software including an updated interface that can also be found on 2013 Samsung flagships. The older launcher and widget style is still the same as before.
It also brings compatibility with the Galaxy Gear smartwatch, but lacks the addition of the Knox security suite. TRIM support has been improved and the update also brings updated GPU drivers, Daydream mode, Samsung's new keyboard and the ability to move apps to the SD card. New features are available on the camera app and there's a new lockscreen as well.
The update is now rolling out to the unlocked versions of the Galaxy S3 LTE. Carrier versions might take a bit longer to receive it.
The update started rolling out once again for the international version earlier this month.
The company stopped the update not too long ago due to certain issues users were having. Galaxy S3 owners noticed several performance and battery problems with the software and complained about it directly to Samsung influencing them to pull the plug on the initial roll out.
The new version of the firmware is available to owners of the GT-I9300 model. The update will bring full Galaxy Gear support, but does not come with Samsung Knox features. It can be installed OTA over-the-air or through Samsung KIES.
The Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 launched in 2013 and both became two of Samsung's highest selling devices.
