Galaxy S5 Active Release Date to Be Announced for AT&T Soon
The release date for the Galaxy S5 Active on AT&T could be announced in the near future as the device was spotted on the GFXBench website recently.
The listing revealed information on the handset that included the specifications. The device will feature a 5.2-inch Full HD display which will most likely be AMOLED. This makes the screen slightly bigger than the version found on the Galaxy S5.
It also comes with a 2.5GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU, 2GB RAM, 16GB of internal memory a 2 megapixel front camera and Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The rear camera is 16 megapixels and takes pictures with a resolution of 5312x2988.
Most features are almost identical to those found on the original Galaxy S5 model. The main difference appears to be the dimensions as the Active measures in at 143x73.42 mm wide in comparison to the original which is 142x72.5.
The Galaxy S5 Active will follow in the footsteps of the S4 version making it fully water and dust proof.
A software update for the unlocked version of the Galaxy S5 is now rolling out.
It makes various improvements to the device including updates for the phone's camera, gallery app and the fingerprint sensor.
Users in the U.K. can download the update using the KIES companion software OTA over-the-air. It should roll out in other areas soon. The build is labeled G900FXXU1ANE2 and it weighs in at 1.4GB so those downloading it should be connected to Wi-Fi.
Sam Mobile tested the new software and stated that it visibly improves the speed of the camera and gallery app. It also makes the fingerprint sensor easier to use as the site reports that it is more responsive.
