Galaxy S5 Rumors: Smartphone to Feature Group Video Calling

A new document filed to the Korean Intellectual Property Rights Information Service points to Samsung launching a handset with group video calling.

Artwork found in the file shows a video calling application that has multiple video feeds displayed at the bottom of the screen. Tapping each person's face will maximize their screen in the call and users will be able to stream both the front and back cameras at the same time.

A feature such as this one has been requested by Apple fans for its FaceTime video calling, however, the company has yet to implement it. Samsung could end up debuting this group calling on the Galaxy S5 that is set to launch early 2014.

Samsung is also rumored to include a fingerprint sensor on the flagship device.

Swedish company Fingerprint Cards confirmed to Reuters recently that multiple mobile phone companies will be releasing devices using its fingerprint technology with Samsung on board for at least two.

"I think at least seven or eight [companies] will launch a phone with a touch sensor in 2014," said Johan Carlstrom, Fingerprints Chief Executive Officer to Reuters in an interview this week.

All of these companies are following in the footsteps of Apple, who launched the iPhone 5S earlier this year with a fingerprint sensor built into its circular home button.

Fingerprint hopes to create even more deals with the majority of these companies. The company currently works with Fujitsu, Pantech and Konka.

Carlstrom did not provide any other details regarding which Samsung devices would come with the fingerprint scanners, but it is safe to assume that the Galaxy Note 4 and the Galaxy S5 will be the company's top priority when it comes to new technology.

However, Samsung's plans are unclear, as the company said it would not follow Apple and bring fingerprint features to mobile devices in earlier statements.
