Galaxy S5 Software Now Available for Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3
Software that will be available for the Galaxy S5 when it launches can now be downloaded for the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4.
Apps were extracted from an early version and made available in the XDA-developers forum. They include S Note, Watch ON S5 Calculator, Gear Fit Manager, Galaxy Gear Manager, S Health and S Translator. All of them could be found in this thread.
The Galaxy S4 and Note 3 can easily install these apps without having to root them.
Samsung will begin offering Galaxy S5 pre-orders on Friday, March 28.
This was only confirmed for the U.K. at this time, but it is very possible that the major U.S. carriers will announce this same date for when they will begin offering it. The device will ship on April 11.
Customers can pre-order the Galaxy S5 through Samsung's e-store, at the company's flagship experience store in Stratford Westfield City shopping center, and through select retailers. Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U also confirmed that they will begin selling pre-orders on March 28.
Samsung U.K. did not reveal any pricing information.
The Galaxy S5 release date for most U.S. carriers still has not been confirmed, but the device will launch sometime in April.
Samsung did state that it will release the new smartphone with $600 worth of apps and subscriptions.
"We are continually looking for the best partners to help us expand and enhance the mobile experience for our dedicated users," said JK Shin, CEO and president of IT & mobile division in a press statement. "The Galaxy S5 was designed to offer consumers the most advanced tool to help improve their everyday lives."
The extras include one year of RunKeeper, six free months of MapMyFitness, six free months Skimble, a $50 voucher on PayPal merchants, 50GB of Dropbox memory for two years and much more.
