Gator Fan Wins 25K Then 'Tebows'
Saturday afternoon, during a game between Florida and Texas A&M in Sunrise, Florida, a Florida student made a half-court shot worth $25,000 and celebrated in a way that would make any Florida alumni proud, by Tebowing.
Brian Grundt, a senior at the University of Florida, was randomly selected from those in attendance at the Orange Bowl Classic match-up between two teams who will soon be in the same conference. During the break at the midway point of the game, Grundt made his way down to the BankAtlantic Center court.
Up to that point in the game the Gators had outscored the Texas A&M 21-0 from the 3-pt line. They must have passed on the shooting technique to Grundt, who studied the shot, gave a flat-footed toss toward the rim and hit the shot off the back iron and through the net.
As the ball went through the hoop, the crowd of over 11,000 and threw their hands in the air in excitement. Grundt threw his arms up in the air. Then a few moments after he got down on one knee, put his left fist to his forehead and Tebowed.
Tebowing has become a national buzz word. Tim Tebow, the former Florida football standout and current Denver Broncos quarterback, has led his team to a 7-2 record since taking over the starter, bringing the Broncos to the top of the AFC West.
There are currently sites dedicated to Tebowing, Posters showing it, and kids getting suspended from school for doing it in the halls. But as long as Tebow remains outspoken as he has been and the Broncos keep winning, people will definitely keep Tebowing.
The Gators would go on to win Saturday's game 84-64 after Grundt's miraculous shot. But it is probably safe to say Grundt was the real winner of the night.
