George Zimmerman's Wife Files for Divorce, Wants to Move on and Serve God
George Zimmerman's wife Shellie has filed for divorce. According to reports, she filed for divorce just days after speaking out about the status of her relationship with Zimmerman in the wake of his trial and acquittal.
The pair "separated on Aug. 13, 2013 and are not presently cohabiting as husband and wife. The marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken," the paperwork obtained by ABC News states. She is seeking "equitable distribution" of their assets and debts.
"We have been pretty much like gypsies," Shellie told ABC in a bombshell interview. "We've lived in a 20-foot trailer in the woods, scared every night that someone was going to find us and that we'd be out in the woods alone and that it would be horrific."

She pleaded guilty last month to perjury and admitted that she lied about their financial situation in order to lower the amount of her husband's bail. In the ABC interview, she said she wished that things were very different.
"I can rationalize a lot of reasons for why I was misleading, but the truth is I knew that I was lying. I can't tell you how many times I have laid at night saying God, I wish these circumstances had been different," Shellie explained.
Shellie has requested to do her 100 hours of community service in a Christian organization and will continue working towards her goal of a career in nursing. She cited her belief in a higher power as the reason for coming forward and admitting to the perjury.
"I answer to a higher power and I feel I've been given a tremendous opportunity to regain my life and because of that graciousness, I want to devote the rest of my life to making sure I speak up, making sure I don't allow myself to be silenced and part of that means telling the truth," Shellie said.
According to the divorce paperwork, Shellie is unemployed and has monthly expenses of $755. George has reportedly only given her $4,300 for living expenses from the "Zimmerman Legal Defense Fund."
