Giants Make Tom Brady 'Flinch' Despite QB's 'Victory' Claims
Tom Brady set his victory party early. But the New England Patriots quarterback may not be guaranteed another Super Bowl victory.
Some sports commentators are doubting the calm attitude presented by Brady. If previous matchups are any indication, the New York Giants may already have unnerved Brady.
They made him "flinch."
The last time the two teams met, the score was 0-0 at the half. The Giants hurried Brady several times and sacked him once in the half.
On the opening drive of the second half, the Giants defense rushed, and Brady tightened up in the pocket, "flinching" after taking a beating for a full half.
Now some sports analysts are questioning if the Giants have gotten into the young quarterback's head before the big game.
The Giants ended up winning the original matchup, but Brady seems confident the Super Bowl will have different results.
Brady announced the victory part in front of 25,000 Patriots fans at a rally for the team.
"We're going down there, and we're going down there for one reason. We're going to give it our best and hopefully we'll have a lot more people at our party next weekend," Brady told a crowd in Massachusetts gathered for the team's pep rally.
After arriving in Indianapolis, Brady defended his provocative comments.
"It was a pep rally," Brady told reporters. "Certainly the players were excited, I know that 25,000 fans who were there were excited as well so ... We had great support home and away. Hopefully we'll have some Patriots jerseys in the stands next Sunday night."
The game, which is schedule for Sunday, is a rematch of Super Bowl XLII, when the Giants beat the then-undefeated Patriots.
The Patriots worked through a lineup that included top ranked teams, like the Denver Broncos and Baltimore Ravens. The Giants beat the Atlanta Falcons, top ranked Green Bay Packers and San Francisco 49ers.
No one can predict who will win the game. The playoffs saw some upsets and a slew of extremely close games, with one score separating winner from loser.
