'Girl Meets World' Greenlit, Disney Orders Full Season
"Girl Meets World" reportedly received a full stamp of approval from the Disney Channel this week. The forthcoming television series is a spin-off of the popular "Boy Meets World," which aired during the early 1990s.
Actors Ben Savage and Danielle Fishel are reprising their roles as Cory and Topanga Matthews on "Girl Meets World," as will other original actors from "Boy Meets World." On Friday, Jan. 21, Fishel announced news that the Disney Channel had ordered a full season of "Girl Meets World" before the series even makes its debut.
"Got the great news tonight that #GirlMeetsWorld was picked up for 8 more episodes- a total of 21," the actress wrote. "Can't wait for everyone to see them all."

"Girl Meets World" will serve as the sequel to "Boy Meets World," and will follow Riley Matthews, the teenage daughter of "Boy Meets World" main characters Cory and Topanga Matthews.
When the sequel was first announced, creator Michael Jacobs released a statement expressing his gratitude.
"I am grateful to everyone at Disney Channel for the opportunity to reach my favorite audience, which has always been kids," he told E! News. "'Girl Meets World' is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made 'Boy Meets World' so popular."
"Boy Meets World" ran on ABC for seven seasons from 1993 to 2000.
When "Girl Meets World" premieres, it will start with Cory and Topanga raising their daughter in New York City. The premiere will take place in the summer of this year, but an exact date has not yet been released.
On Twitter, fans of the original show voiced their excitement over "Girl Meets World" this week.
"I can't wait until Girl Meets World comes on," Pauline wrote.
Another Twitter user added, "I hope Disney gets it right with Girl Meets World. I will be tuning in to check it out, for sure."
