Go Daddy Super Bowl Ad Creating Buzz Ahead of the Big Game
The Super Bowl, one of the biggest sporting events of the year, draws tens of millions of viewers, but many will tell you they tune in especially for the commercials.
This year is no exception, with slots for 30-second ads going for a record $4 million. The steep price for face time apparently has not fazed GoDaddy, an internet domain registrar and web hosting company that has used NASCAR driver Danica Patrick as the face of the company for several years.
The new ad is catching a lot of attention even before kick-off, as supermodel Bar Refaeli plants a kiss on Jesse Heiman, who plays a nerdy programmer during the commercial.
"There are two sides to GoDaddy," Patrick says in the ad. "There's the sexy side represented by Bar Refaeli. And the smart side that creates a killer website for your small business, represented by Walter. Together, they're perfect."
Leonardo DiCaprio's former squeeze is being a good sport about the whole bit, even if reports state that it took 45 takes to get the shot right.
"I feel like the 'Perfect Match' commercial is a chance to be in an iconic Super Bowl spot that not only leaves people talking, but shows everyone what Go Daddy is really about," Refaeli said in a previous press release.
During a recent appearance on the "Today" show, the Israeli supermodel revealed that she has a reoccurring dream about kissing a stranger out of the blue.
"I have a very strange dream that all my friends know about where I go to a club, look around, choose the guy most unlikely to be kissed, and kiss him in front of everyone, so that he'll remember it for, I don't know, the rest of the week," Refaeli said.
The Super Bowl is scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, and the ad is scheduled to run during the first quarter.
