Google Adds Spooky Voice Commands for Google Assistant to Welcome Halloween
Halloween is just around the corner, and Google made sure that users of the Google Assistant will get an early taste of fright — with, at times, a funny twist.
According to a report from Android Authority, the tech giant recently added a number of Halloween-themed Easter eggs, as well as quizzes in the form of voice commands. Some of the themed commands include: "Ok Google, what should I be for Halloween?" "Ok Google, get directions to the nearest pumpkin patch," and "Ok Google, how do I get rid of monsters?"
Also listed are "Ok Google, add Halloween candy to my shopping list," "Ok Google, scare me!" and "Ok Google, let's get spooky!"
PhoneArena explained that if users tell Google Assistant "Let's get spooky," they will be instructed to open a file that contains creepy and scary stuff like ghosts laughing, creaking doors, and haunting music coming from an organ.
Halloween, however, is not the only event Google is gearing up for as its Pixel 2 smartphone is also slated for release this week. The device also made news just a week after its official unveiling earlier this month when Google published unedited photos using the Pixel 2's camera.
Isaac Reynolds, a product manager from Google's Camera department, published an album of the photos showing the power and the Pixel 2's camera using the "original quality" feature. The pictures showcased different types of compositions like moving objects, landscapes, low-light shots, and Portrait shooting mode.
PhoneArena also reported that the Portrait mode uses a single camera powered by dual pixels. The report noted that the technology was previously used to attain faster focusing. Additionally, the device can also produce images showcasing white balance, color balance, and dynamic range.
As for the Pixel 2's other key specs, it comes with an AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors and runs on the Android 8.0 with a Qualcomm MSM8998 Snapdragon 835 chipset. It also features a fingerprint sensor on the back of the device and a non-removable Li-Ion 2700 mAh battery.
