Google Pixel 2 And Pixel XL 2 New Features

With Android Oreo now out of the way, Google's next focus is the launch of its own smartphone line: the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2. The two smartphones are expected to pack a punch in terms of features while maintaining a similar design to their predecessors.

The two devices are set to ship with the latest iteration of the Android mobile operating system which is already a huge plus. This makes them the first to come equipped with the software with Google yet to announce dates about the OS release to other manufacturers.

Right off the bat, users will notice that the tech giant has followed its competitors in ditching the 3.5mm jack and has replaced it with a USB-C jack. This is according to an announcement by Olixar which makes the cases for a number of devices. However, Google will bundle a USB-C to 3.5mm come with every device.

Google is also expected to debut an "Always On display" with the two devices. The new feature will reportedly sport a different look than the ambient display feature currently available on existing Pixel devices.

In keeping with its fellow smartphone manufacturers, Google has also revealed that its new models will be IP68 dust and water resistant. By adding this layer of protection, the company also addresses previous criticisms aimed at its smartphone line.

HTC and LG, which are believed to be building the Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 respectively, will reportedly opt for the SnapDragon 835. This is according to Google's recent filing with the Federal Communications Commission, the body responsible for approving new devices in the United States.

All these new features don't come cheap however as it is reported that the price markup of at least $50 for the new models. The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 is expected to be released next month.
