Halle Berry Fight Leaves Ex Hospitalized, in Jail
Halle Berry was the unfortunate referee of a fight between ex-boyfriend Gabriel Aubry and current fiancé Olivier Martinez on Thursday morning. The fight left Aubry hospitalized and in jail. Martinez was taken to the hospital, but released.
The two men got in a verbal argument that quickly escalated to a physical altercation, according to reports. The fight took place at Berry's home on Thanksgiving morning, and the two have had known problems in their relationships with Berry. She recently lost a court petition to move to France with daughter Nahla and Martinez.
Berry was the one to call the police, and Martinez issued a citizen's arrest of Aubry in order to keep the calm until police could arrive. Aubry was first taken to the hospital, where he was treated for a broken rib and facial contusions. He was then released into the custody of the Los Angeles police and, at last report, is still awaiting booking.
His bail has been set at $20,000 and a judge has issued an emergency protective order to keep Aubry away from Berry, Martinez, and Nahla until he faces a judge. It's a shocking turn of events, given that Aubry technically "won" in court when a judge ruled that his daughter could not be moved to France.
Berry's reasoning for moving Nahla to France was to protect her from paparazzi and the public eye in general. France has much less tolerance for paparazzi and tougher laws protecting stars that live in the country. Berry had hoped to avoid all of that, but was denied due to custody issues with Aubry.
Aubry and Berry split in 2010 after dating for five years and having daughter Nahla in 2008. After their separation, Berry moved on and began dating Martinez later that year. The couple announced their engagement just one year later, but has not announced any plans to marry.
