Hawk Nelson To Appear In Remake 'Yours, Mine, Ours'

Tooth & Nail recording artist Hawk Nelson will be making a cameo performance in the remake of the 1968 romantic comedy Yours, Mine, & Ours. The band will be seen singing their song “Bring Em Out,” which they wrote specifically for the film.

Music supervisor for the film, Spring Aspers, says of the band’s involvement, “Working with Hawk Nelson was fantastic. They are very talented and work quickly. Hawk was a perfect fit for this film, and we were fortunate to have them. When whey performed for the party scene, they lit up the whole party…everyone on the set got involved and began singing and chanting the words; it was such a fun moment.”

The remake of Yours, Mine, & Ours features Dennis Quaid portraying Frank Beardsley, Henry Fonda's role in the original film, and Rene Russo co-staring in the role played by Lucille Ball. The story follows two single parents, one with 10 children and the other with eight, who fall in love and elope only to deal with their kids' attempts to sabotage their union. Directed by Raja Gosnell (Scooby Doo, Scooby Doo 2, Never Been Kissed), the film also features Nickelodeon star, Drake Bell (“The Drake and Josh Show”), Jerry O’Connell (“Crossing Jordan”), Katija Pevec (“Listen Up”), and Miranda Cosgrove (School of Rock).

Hawk Nelson bass player Daniel Biro gave the following comment regarding the band’s participation in the film:

“Film, Hollywood and California have always intrigued us. Long days, a lot of waiting around and hurrying up are reality; however, that rewarding feeling at the end of the day is priceless,” Biro said. “The other actors and actresses were so welcoming. Raja (the director) was such an encouragement to the band. If I could do it all over again there would be no hesitation. I only hope that this is the start of much, much more.”

Hawk Nelson’s appearance in Yours, Mine, & Ours follows their television debut in NBC’s American Dreams, on which the band emulated rock legend The Who, singing the hit song “My Generation.” The band’s songs have also been featured on the WB’s shows Smallville (“California”) and Summerland (“Like a Racecar”) as well in 2004 NBC Summer Olympic commercials (“Right Here”).

Aside from their involvement with film and television, Hawk Nelson will be releasing a Letters to the President Special Edition project, which will feature three exclusive acoustic tracks (“Take Me,” “Every Little Thing,” and “Letters to the President”) and with the song “My Generation” as heard on American Dreams. In addition to the new tracks, the project will include “Behind the Scenes” video footage as well as the video for the hit single “California.”

Hawk Nelson can be seen performing at this year’s top 20 summer festivals including Creation East, Spirit West Coast, Creation West, and Kingdom Bound. Additionally, the band will be traveling with the Focus on the Family Brio Mission Trip to Panama City, Panama in July performing multiple concerts. The band will also be playing two performances at this year’s Breakaway Summit in California. Upon ending their summer touring schedule, the band will go straight in their fall tour with label-mate Thousand Foot Krutch.
