Heidi and Spencer Pratt: We Faked Our Fights on MTV
MTV has been the host of numerous controversial couples, but perhaps none so controversial as Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt. They fought all the time, and even their families disapproved of the union, but that didn't stop them from sticking it out. Now the couple has revealed that most of their fights were faked for the camera.
"Spencer and I never fight like that. Never," Montag said. She actually just "changed [her] last name to Pratt, so that's the biggest thing in my life," she told Us Weekly. Instead, the couple remains happily married and is busy, with Spencer working towards a political science degree from the University of Southern California.
"I was hell-bent on being the bad-guy character on the show," Spencer told Us Weekly. "I got caught up in it."
Mrs. Pratt has been busy keeping up appearances after famously going through 10 plastic surgery procedures in a single day. She regularly trains with a variety of professionals in order to ensure her health.
"I'm doing Crossfit, which is really intense, really hardcore," she told Celebuzz.
"I row for like 20 minutes, then run for 30 minutes on the treadmill. I do half an hour to an hour of cardio on my own. I do my workout five or six days a week," she added. "I'm from Colorado, so I love being athletic. I grew up doing sports."
Right now the Pratts are adjusting to life post-MTV, which includes making do with much less money. They currently live in a home owned by Spencer's father.
"Who knows where we'd be if it wasn't for Spencer's family? It's definitely a miracle that we get to live here," she admitted. "We are really cautious with our money now, and we don't have [to pay] rent. So we fortunately get to save that money. It's just save, save, save."
That also includes cutting back on the partying and drinking, which was done in excess during filming of "The Hills."
"I only drink once or twice a week," Heidi explained. "I used to drink more regularly, and I'm trying to cut down."
"I'm turning down paid appearances," Spencer added. "We don't have celebrity-sized money anymore, but we're fine. I'm happy to be around normal people these days!"
