Hillary Clinton Hairstyle Signal of 2016 Run? New Look Adds to Speculation
Hillary Clinton has a new look these days, and that look is adding to speculation that she is planning a 2016 Presidential run.
Clinton debuted the new hairstyle at the dedication of the Hillary Rodham Clinton Children's Library in Little Rock, Ark. with husband Bill. The former Secretary of State read "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" to a group of children before touring the library and fielding a few questions.
Much has been made of Clinton's every move, from joining Twitter to her hairstyle, adding fuel to the fire that she will indeed run for President in 2016. Clinton has not made any comments about whether she will run other than posting a teaser on her Twitter page. Daughter Chelsea has offered her full support, as has Missouri Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill, who joined the "Ready for Hillary" SuperPAC.
But is Clinton's appearance truly a sign that she is ready to run?
"Her new haircut sends a signal of shimmering intention," Maureen Dowd wrote for The New York Times. "She has ditched the skinned-back bun that gave her the air of a K.G.B. villainess in a Bond movie and has a sleek new layered cut that looks modern and glamorous."
Dowd also noted that Clinton "was supposed to go off to a spa, rest, and get back in shape" after serving as Secretary of State. Instead, Clinton has done just the opposite – joining Twitter, issuing a statement supporting same-sex marriage, writing her memoir, and now changing her looks. It's clear that Clinton is remaining in the limelight, whether she runs for office or not.
Others, though, are not as critical as Dowd and wonder how a new look could signal a Presidential run.
"Hillary's hair is ready for action!" joked G-Nice on Twitter.
"How is a hair cut Hillary Clinton gets in 2013 a sign she's running for president in 2016?" asked Lisa T.
Clinton herself has joked that she is a "hair icon" via her Twitter description.
