Hollywood Attorney Tries To Stop Anti-Abortion Ads During Super Bowl XLVI
Attorney Gloria Allred is trying to disrupt an anti-abortion advertisement being broadcast during the Super Bowl, arguing that it offends pro-abortion activists.
Allred, renowned for her constant involvement in high profile celebrity sex-scandals, has sent out a letter to various TV stations condemning Pro-Life activist and devout Catholic Randall Almira Terry's anti-abortion ad, arguing that it is "misleading," according to Radar Online.
"It has come to my attention that your station is intending to air an ad during the Super Bowl, which will depict, in graphic manner, an aborted fetus and or fetal parts," Allred wrote in the letter.
Allred, 70, reportedly sent the letter to 11 local affiliates in several states, which plan to broadcast the presidential hopeful's ad.
"I request the opportunity to appear on your station to express the pro-choice right to safe and legal abortion positions, as well as to react to the grossly offensive ad that your stations intends to air," Allred continued.
"Broadcasting the kind of graphic images that you reportedly intend to air during the Super Bowl is extremely inflammatory," she added.
It is believed that Terry has already purchased ad time for the anti-abortion ad which will be broadcast during the Super Bowl pre-game as well as the official Super Bowl in Ada, Okla., Grand Junction, Colo., Joplin, Miss., Paducah, Ky., and Springfield, Miss.
Some critics argue that Allred, founder of Women's Equal Rights Legal Defense and Education Fund (WERLDEF), is a bully who is using Terry's ad as a platform for publicity while others argue that she is simply doing her job.
Often priding herself as a "feminist," Allred is renowned for representing women who are often caught at the center of sex scandals including Tiger Woods' famed mistress, Rachel Uchitel, and Herman Cain accuser Sharon Bialek.
Terry, founder of anti-abortion group Operation Rescue, is renowned for his strong opposition to abortion often referring to the controversial practice as "murder."
So far Allred's letter has not impacted Terry's plans, and the anti-abortion ad still looks set to be broadcast.
