HTC M7 Release Date Set for Feb. 19

HTC sent out initiations this week to an event that will take place on Feb. 19 where the company might end up unveiling its new M7 smartphone.

The invitation reads "save the date" and takes place at 10 a.m. Feb. 19 in New York City. HTC did not reveal the purpose of the event, but it is safe to assume that those in attendance will get a first look at a new smartphone.

The HTC M7 is expected to be an extremely impressive device that features several industry firsts. HTC will also replace the One X with the M7, making it the new flagship device for the company.

These firsts include specs that rival and top away many of the handsets currently available in the market, such as a 4.7-inch display with a pixel density of 468ppi and a 1920 x 1080 resolution, a second generation 1.7GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB of internal flash storage, and LTE connectivity.

However, the 4.7-inch screen size is still just a rumor, as NDTV is reporting that the handset could end up with a 5-inch display when it is released. The device is expected to be full HD (1080p) like its predecessors, the DNA and Butterfly.

The camera on the M7 is said to have some major improvements from previous HTC devices. It will come with a 1080p 13-megapixel rear camera, and a 1080p front camera.

It will also feature either Android 4.1, or 4.2 JellyBean.

A render of the HTC M7 was leaked earlier this month. It happens to make the smartphone look a lot like the iPhone 5. This may or may not end up being what the device will look like. HTC has not confirmed any information on the handset at this time.
